DICE Launches New Battlefield User Interface

New Battlefield User Interface Coming Soon

New UI Begins With Battlefield 4

Dan Mitre, Global Lead Community Manager of Battlefield just recently announced that we could anticipate a new Battlefield user interface coming soon and beginning with Battlefield 4.

The new Battlefield UI is designed to improve the experience of playing with friends. Dan said that while the team is currently hard at work creating Battlefield 1, they’re still focused on improving the experience for previous Battlefield titles. The new UI changes will help unite Battlefield players regardless of whether they’re playing Battlefield 4, Battlefield Hardline, or Battlefield 1 in October.

The new Battlefield user interface is designed to improve the experience of playing with friends and to bring relevant content to your attention. Battlefield players will actually be able to create a Squad before entering a server. Be on the lookout for other new UI features as well like a new recommendation engine that will suggest modes, maps, and even more.

This new Battlefield UI update is currently rolling out in beta form in Battlefield 4 for a select audience. More information on additional testing opportunities will be announced in the coming months as well. Once it’s rolled out for all three Battlefield games, players will easily be able to swap between the games as long as they own them.

BF1, BF4, BF3 & Squad Designated Gaming Nights via 3MOB

BF1, BF4, BF3 & Squad Designated Gaming Nights

Introducing “designated community gaming nights”. While real life can often be challenging, setting aside some free time to game with your friends shouldn’t be.
It’s a simple concept that will hopefully allow better coordination when scheduling that rare commodity known as “game time” with your friends in our community.

We’ve all experienced the disappointment and frustration of coming online to play only to realize you’ve just missed playing with the group. It’s like rolling the dice as you load a game up and look to see if others in the community are currently playing as well. Sure there are times we don’t mind playing alone and sometimes may actually prefer to play alone due to circumstances. However… we’d like to think that not playing the game alone is likely one of the main reasons you joined our community in the first place.

Everyone in the Battlefield & Squad Community is invited to participate in Designated Gaming Nights!

This schedule is merely a “guideline” for which games we “collectively play together” on the designated nights. No one is dictating what we must play. However it is a great reference for those of us who wish to participate “collectively with the group”. So it’s Thursday for 3, Friday for 4, and Saturday for Squad! Times are posted in the image above. Meetup happens each designated game night via the 3MOB VOIP Discord Server.

Battlefield 1 Tentative Release Date Set For October 21, 2016

The next Battlefield may be closer to being launched than what some sources have speculated. Back on December 2015 Dan Vanderlind, Dice’s Director of Development first broke news of the latest addition on tap for the Battlefield Series.

Battlefield 4 Dragon Valley 2015 Gameplay Guide

Battlefield 4 Legacy Operations, is based on the original Dragon Valley map from Battlefield 2. In Dragon Valley 2015, this translates into one of the biggest maps in the game – with a heavy focus on vehicles.

Dragon Valley 2015 features 8 flags, more than any other Battlefield 4 map. This creates unique game-play, and captures the pacing and game-play of the original map. It’s a big map, and you tend to commit to an area of the map per round.

The most obvious focus of all is to commit to holding the infantry heavy island, featuring the Hilltop Pagoda and the Temple flags. There are several good spots to hide a spawn beacon for quick insertion behind enemy lines to make sure you keep these flags blue. Make sure you have some anti-air and anti-tank support to make sure you can handle the vehicles that are bound to arrive at some point…

Dragon Valley 2015 is built around vehicle play. If you are the best Tanker, Attack helicopter pilot, or Jet pilot, you will have so many things to try. The destructible bridges add a dimension to the vehicle play, and you’ll find yourself constantly finding new nooks to utilize to your advantage. We hope you will love playing vehicles on Dragon Valley 2015 as much as we do!

Any veteran of the Battlefield series knows the older map layouts feature a lot of capture points. The original Dragon Valley had a total of 10 flags for instance! This amount of flags allows your squad to focus on capturing as many flags as possible. You travel to potential points using fast transports, capture them, but there is little time to stay and defend – you are constantly on the offensive. This might not be one of the most effective tactics, but it’s loads of fun!

Playing as the US, focusing efforts on D flag (Hill Village), and playing a guerilla kind of game is a lot of fun! Start by assembling your squad, make sure you bring a spawn beacon and an engineer or two. Place the spawn beacon in a smart position fairly close to the flag, but far enough to not be obvious, and start locking down the access road to the east side of the river. Your mission is stopping all tanks from reaching the Island!

As the Chinese team, focusing on quickly capturing and trying to hold the A (River Valley) and B (Pagoda) flags is a viable (and fun) tactic. To increase your chances of success, make sure you grab the IFV at F (Wood Yard), or bring a tank with you to long range support the defense. Expect heavy resistance, especially from heavy vehicles like tanks and attack helicopters.

See you on Dragon Valley 2015!

Battlefield 4 March 3rd Winter Update Boasts BIG Changes

Battlefield 4 Winter Update

[superquote]We are adding a new competitive game mode called Squad Obliteration with the Winter Patch. In this mode the high paced objective based gameplay of original Obliteration is scaled down to a 5 vs 5 size – balanced and perfected for competitive play.[/superquote]

Battlefield 4 Classic Mode = WIN In BF4

BATTLEFIELD 4 Classic Mode Has Arrived

Introduced via the recent Battlefield 4 Fall Update, BF4 Classic Mode has arrived! Check out the “Classic Mode” Server Settings illustration above and use it as a quick reference for what settings to expect when playing the newly introduced Classic Mode.

Inspired By Battlefield 2

Classic Mode is obviously strongly inspired by the play style of Battlefield 2 and is designed for players seeking stronger team-work oriented game-play. Difficulty-wise, Classic Mode can be placed somewhere between Normal and Hardcore mode in Battlefield 4, with some of the assisting features removed or altered, and a heavy emphasis on working together as a team.

No 3D spotting: Spotting an enemy will not make a triangle-shaped icon appear above the enemy’s head in Classic Mode. Spotted enemies will however be visible on the mini-map as usual.

Health and no regeneration: In Classic Mode, the health level is the same as in the Normal preset. However, the health of a soldier or a vehicle will not regenerate automatically, making Medpacks and Repair Tools even more crucial. Make sure to have the Engineer and Assault players nearby!

Squad leader spawn: Your squad leader is now your lifeline to jumping into the heat of battle as you can’t spawn on your other squad members. Move as a squad and protect your squad leader in order to maintain the upper hand!

Reloading: As every good Battlefield player knows: every bullet counts. In Classic Mode this is truer than ever, since a reload results in the loss of any remaining bullets in your mag. Grab a Support player with an Ammo box and hang tight to him if you want to keep pumping out bullets!

No third-person vehicle cam: Jumping into a thrilling Classic Mode dogfight or tank battle? Then prepare to rely on your skills piloting vehicles in first person – and first person only.

[superquote]Classic Mode is a mix between Normal and Hardcore mode in Battlefield 4. Heavy emphasis is placed on working together as a team.[/superquote]

Other Features of Classic Mode

Other Classic Mode rules worth mentioning are the fact that Friendly Fire is turned off by default, and the Killcam is disabled. You’ll still see who killed you and with what weapon, but the orange silhouette of your foe and his position and direction from where you were killed won’t be there.

Finding A Classic Mode PC Server via Your Battlelog Server Browser

On PC, you can find the Classic Mode preset on Battlelog’s server browser. Scroll down to the “Preset” menu and tick the “Classic” box to search for servers running the mode. Choose “Apply Filter”, find a server to join, and get your ass on the Battlefield Soldier!
